Matthew Antoci (they, them) is a New York-based performer, writer, and Italiana goddess from Northeast Georgia.
Having grown up as queer in the Deep South, Matthew's passions range from injecting classical texts with queer glamor and ridiculousness to creating high-octane, niche garbage-couture takes on drag. As an actor they’ve appeared onstage with Rude Grooms, the Ballard Museum of Puppetry, Connecticut Repertory Theatre, at various drag cabarets, and multiple locations across the internet. Some of their favorite performances include Charlotte von Mahlsdorf, et al. in I AM MY OWN WIFE and “gaybyboi99” in a yet-to-be-released, VR video game experience, TROLLS.
Beyond performance, Matthew dons many hats creatively and literally: they devise, coach speech, sing, direct, produce their own work, and read birth charts. A co-founder of the Cinnamon Summer Series, they facilitated the devised website experiment THE FIRES WE DON’T SEE (2020) and produced and directed MUCH ADO ABOUT NOTHING in Storrs, Connecticut in the summer of 2019. Matthew also recently served as a deviser and dialect captain in Connecticut Repertory Theatre’s production of THE CURIOUS INCIDENT OF THE DOG IN THE NIGHT-TIME.
An unapologetic Chekhov chanteuse, Matthew, (for similar reasons) is also obsessed with the Real Housewives of New York City. Outside of their work in performance, you can find them demonstrating the queer art of failure at most corners of the internet.
